Have you a new baby? If so congratulations!!! We have some suggestions and tips for getting out and about with baby in Dublin.

Join a local Parent and Baby/Toddler Group. Most groups meet weekly. Parent and Baby groups can be an invaluable source of information, a great way to meet other parents and chat about the ups and downs of life with a baby. Its great to be able to talk to other people in the same situation as you because no matter how great your friends are, unless they have a baby themselves, they just aren't all that interested in how baby sleeps or when to wean! Most groups meet weekly, check out our Parent and Baby/Toddler Group listings for more information.

Several cinemas in Dublin South including Movies @ Dundrum and Swords and the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield hold weekly parent and baby screenings. You can catch up with the latest releases, bring the buggy and not worry about baby disturbing other cinema goings. With a bit of luck your baby will fall asleep in the dark if the theatre on your lap and you can sit back and enjoy the movie! Or I have regulary gone to the cinema during a "normal screening" with baby in sling and never had a problem(well apart from stayin awake in the early days)! Check out our Cinema listings for more info!

There are a growing number of classes throughout Dublin  for parents and babies, including introducing to baby to music and movement, baby massage and yoga, search our baby and toddler classes for further information.

Go and visit Panda Play Cafe in Terenure, a dedicated playcentre for 0-5 years. Lots of soft play areas, healthy baby and toddler snacks, coffee for parents, what more could you ask for? Panda Play also hold regular baby classes.

The National Art Gallery holds a new parents  guided tour once a month. Focusing on art depicted mothers this is a pleasant afternoon out, for mum and baby! The museum of Decorative Arts & History, Dublin 7, now hold a new monthly tour for parents, grandparents or carers with pre-toddler age children. Buggies welcome! Please note that places are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Go Swimming. The majority of swimming pools and leisure centres in Dublin South hold dedicated times for parent and infant swims. Search our  sports and leisure centre listings for more info on locations and times.

Do keep an eye on our events pages, there are regular events for new parents across Dublin, including new parent coffee mornings in certain department stores, showings and screenings.
